Subtopia Records NYC flyer

Flyer for the Subtopia record store inside Liquid Sky in SoHo, Manhattan - Set up and managed by Fierce Ruling Diva's Abraxas who had moved back to New York for a year. Subtopia was the first record shop in Manhattan to have turntables and headphones available to customers to listen to their own stack of records and decide for themselves what they want.

Fierce Ruling Diva flew in Richie Hawtin & John Aquaviva from Detroit for their first gig in Europe: "Housenation" in Tomorrowland, Rotterdam. It sold 3600 tickets (600 over max capacity) and at the moment of production it was the biggest rave to date in Holland - a record that stood for a few weeks, it was beat soon after by Megarave in Ahoy, Rotterdam.

Flamman Debut @ Planet E

Planet E opens its doors in a squatted abandoned sauna on the Damrak. Abraxas is planning on mixing cassettes at home for the music, but Flamman insists of having live Dj mixing and gets behind the decks for his first public appearance as Dj Flamman. Flamman & Abraxas as Dj-team are now a fact of life!

Webb One

Flamman & Abraxas spin at this illegal squat-rave in the Wielingen, a large squatted complex opposite the RAI congress center. A picture taken at this event became the front cover photo for the "Whipped Kream - The Summer Remixes" six months later.


1st Warehouse rave

June 24, 1989
Black Love Cabaret, by Washington born Byron Patterson is the first warehouse rave for Flamman & Abraxas (not yet known as Fierce Ruling Diva) in the deserted - nowadays highly developed - Eastport area with lotsa empty warehouses. The party draws a crowd of over 2000 and is one of the biggest raves of it's time


The Last Houseparty of '88

Before calling themselves Fierce Ruling Diva, Flamman & Abraxas were resident dj's/hosts at the DOK club in Amsterdam. Owners Rob & Jacques were quick to adopt Housemusic as the next big thing and December 29, 1988 was SOLD OUT, the club was loaded to it's capacity.
